Reflections

Experience

Throughout this module, I experience using Illustrator as well as drawing on Photoshop for the first time. I tried drawing on Photoshop before but back then there's still a lot of things that I didn't know so this module definitely helped me a lot in that. While working with Illustrator finally gave me a chance to create something completely original. Now I know which software to use to create original vectors of my own because I used to always use Photoshop and use images I found online. I also experience drawing a graphic novel for the first time as well as laser cutting for the first time. I learned a lot about narrative structure, rule of third, etc. Although I still have to practice more in terms of using it correctly. Animating a graphic novel is also a first for me which I found pretty interesting and fun (when I know what to do).

Observation

What I observed about myself is I can definitely see improvement throughout the semester. I now know how and when to place certain stuff correctly, what kind of angle would be better for a scene and so on. I also observed that I'm somehow always have the same idea which for me is kind of bad. Because I really wanted to experiment on different kinds of ideas so I could learn more stuff. So that is one thing about me that I really need to improve on. I also observe that I tend to get lost whenever I'm asked to do mood boards which I've come to a conclusion that I have not 100% understood about mood boards yet, but of course I will keep on learning.

Findings

I found that making a GIF using Photoshop is actually pretty fun except for the fact that we need to move every object that we wanted to animate one by one which is very time consuming. I also found myself enjoying doing the vormator character though there are times when it's really frustrating because things don't go the way I want. But of course since I'm still learning and there are still a lot of things that I should learn, I should never stop exploring new ideas and do experiments on them.
